Reference Photos: The Small Feature That Gets You Better Offers

When you post a wanted listing on Seekventory, you can attach up to six reference photos. It looks like a small feature, but it changes the quality of offers you receive — especially in categories like watches and sneakers where "black dial" or "red colorway" can mean five different things.

Reference photos remove ambiguity

"Looking for a Submariner" could mean a 16610, a 116610, or a 126610 — three different decades of watch. A reference photo of the exact dial, bezel, and bracelet you want tells sellers instantly whether their item matches. Sellers skip listings they can't match, which means the offers you do get are from people holding the right item.

What makes a good reference photo set

• Front and back of the item — the overall look you're after.
• The detail that matters most to you: a specific dial variant, a colorway tag, an engraving.
• A sizing or fit reference where relevant (case size, box label for sneakers).
• Condition examples if you're flexible — "this level of wear is fine" is easier shown than described.

Sellers respond with photos of the actual item

The mirror image: when a seller makes an offer on your wanted listing, they attach photos of their specific item — not stock images. Those photos are recorded on the offer, so if the item that arrives doesn't match, the comparison that settles the case is already on file. Reference photos from you, actual-item photos from them: that's the whole loop.
