Protection Program

Buyer Protection

What we cover when a purchase goes wrong

The short version

Pay through and receive the item described in the accepted offer. Eligible purchases may be covered when an item is not delivered, is materially different from the accepted offer, is counterfeit, arrives with significant undisclosed damage, or fails required authentication. Limits, exclusions, deadlines, and evidence requirements apply.

When you may be covered

Subject to the full program rules, you may be eligible for protection when:

  • The seller does not ship within the promised period.
  • The seller does not provide valid tracking when tracking is required.
  • The item is never delivered.
  • You receive the wrong item.
  • You receive fewer items than the quantity you accepted.
  • The item is materially different from the accepted offer.
  • The condition is materially worse than disclosed.
  • Material damage or defects were not disclosed.
  • Essential parts described as included are missing.
  • The item is counterfeit or misrepresented as authentic.
  • Required authentication fails.
  • The seller cannot provide the item you accepted.
  • The item is damaged or lost during an eligible shipment.
  • A local-pickup seller does not make the item available as agreed.
  • The product breaks our prohibited-item rules and you were not responsible.

What counts as materially different

An item is materially different when a reasonable buyer would consider the difference important to the decision to buy. Examples include:

  • A different brand, model, edition, version, year, or part number
  • The wrong size, capacity, or configuration
  • The wrong quantity or a different material
  • A major undisclosed repair or undisclosed functional failure
  • Missing essential parts, or an incomplete set sold as complete
  • Significant undisclosed damage
  • An incorrect authenticity or serial-number claim
  • A reproduction offered as an original, or a modified item offered as unmodified

What we ask of you

  • Pay through and keep messages here.
  • Give an accurate shipping address and review the final transaction summary.
  • Complete any required verification and authentication choice.
  • Be available for signature or pickup when required.
  • Inspect the item promptly and report an eligible problem within the deadline.
  • Keep the item, packaging, labels, and paperwork as you received them.
  • Send truthful photos, video, or other evidence.
  • Do not use, alter, repair, resell, or damage a disputed item.
  • Return the item using our return method when a return is required.
  • Cooperate with authentication, carrier, insurer, and payment reviews.
  • Do not file duplicate claims for the same loss without telling us.

What buyer protection does not cover

  • Changing your mind when the seller did not offer discretionary returns
  • A defect or characteristic clearly disclosed before you accepted
  • A difference you approved in messages or transaction terms
  • Damage you caused after receiving the item
  • Unauthorized modification or repair by you
  • Ordinary wear consistent with the disclosed condition
  • Any transaction, payment, or deliberate conversation moved off
  • An unsupported shipping or pickup arrangement
  • Failure to cooperate with the claims process
  • A claim filed after the deadline without an approved exception
  • Loss caused by an inaccurate address, or refusing a conforming delivery
  • Prohibited or unlawful conduct, or an excluded category
  • Authentication you declined under a permitted waiver, as stated in that waiver
  • Indirect, sentimental, speculative, or opportunity losses unless expressly covered
  • Differences that are not material to the accepted transaction

Remedies

  • Full refund without return when nothing was received
  • Full refund after a return
  • Partial refund by agreement
  • Replacement or seller-funded repair by agreement
  • Account credit only if you freely choose it and the law allows it
  • Payment of an approved insurance or carrier claim
